Forever Down Under: A snippet from Chapter One

My eyes flutter open and I quickly close them again, trying to stop the assault of the bright sunlight from stinging them.

“Hey.” A slow, lazy smile curves onto my lips at the sound of his voice, and I open my right eye just a little to get a closer look at his perfect face. He definitely doesn’t disappoint. I don’t think a day could ever pass by, where I could ever tire of his perfect features. Both eyes open and firmly lock onto his piercing blues, and his cocky, sure as hell grin falls into place. “I’ve missed you, angel.”

“Yeah?” I ask, while stretching a little. “How about you come and show me just how much?”

“I’d fucking love to.” He whispers and I feel the bed dip slightly, as he leans his hard, solid, perfect frame over me. Tilting my head slightly, so his lips can rest on mine, I snake my fingers into his hair and pull him down against me, desperate to close the aching gap between us, but he pulls back.

“What’s wrong?” I ask, desperation heavy in my voice.

“Jessica Townsend, you’ll be the fucking death of me.” I reach up to kiss him again, and this time he doesn’t hold back, instead he holds me tight and pulls me into his arms, right where I belong.

“You know that I’d love nothing more than to stay here with you like this, with nothing coming between us all day.” Max whispers against my neck before slowly drawing back to look at me once again.

“Now that sounds like a plan to me.” I can’t help but smile a big goofy smile at my loveable rogue. I flutter my eyelashes a little, and press my hips against him, hoping that he’ll take the hint and give my body exactly what it craves. Him.

Instead, Max places a tender kiss on my forehead and his eyes fall back on to mine as he looks down on me, eyebrows raised and his piercing blue eyes sparkle with mischief and welcome promises. Somehow, I know that the mischief and promises aren’t going to be carried out just yet.

“Jen’s here to see you.” Max sighs before continuing. “She said that if I don’t bring you downstairs, then she’ll take a blunt knife and cut off my balls, and you know how much I love my balls, angel.” I can’t help but laugh at the worried expression he now has plastered on his face. How did I get so bloody lucky to have him in my life?

“This isn’t over, Mr Wild. Remember, you owe me big time for this.” I warn. “Plus, has no one ever told you that you don’t keep a lady waiting?” I point my finger directly at him and press it into his chest for added effect. I swear Jen is going to pay for this. No doubt, she’s already had her morning fumble and then some. Cow.

I let out a loud, defeated sigh and kick back the covers, deliberately displaying my naked body to Max. His face is absolutely priceless. With his eyes wide and his mouth open, I can tell that he’s suddenly regretting his decision. I swat his hand away when he reaches out to touch me. “I wouldn’t want to come between you and your manliness now, would I?”

“Jess.” Max pleads while gripping me tightly around the waist, and pulling my body up flush against his. “Fuck, woman. Give me a minute and I’ll go down and get rid of her.”

“No.” I smile and turn around to face him. “There’s not much point now anyway, the moments passed. Plus, I’m sure watching you suffer will be more than enough payback. At least for now.”

“Come on, you’ve got to be shittin’ me.”

“Oh yes.” I think to myself. I’ve definitely hit a nerve here as he looks utterly wounded, like a kid that lost it’s favourite toy. Maybe next time he’ll think twice about blowing me off just to protect his balls. Surely he should know by now, that the only person he needs to protect his balls from is yours truly. I smile once again at this beautiful man who is coming undone before my very own eyes, and I can’t help the smug feeling of satisfaction that washes over me. Oh boy, the fun I’m going to have making him suffer.

I pull on my robe, the luxurious silk robe that Max gave to me and wrap it tightly around my body, wanting nothing more than for Max to storm over to me and rip it from my body. Realising that isn’t going to happen, I take one last glance at him, watching him stood frozen on the spot, practically foaming at the mouth. Oh Max. What am I going to do with you?

“This isn’t over, Max.” I promise and pull on the door handle a little too hard in my sexually frustrated state,  almost knocking myself out in the process. I’m sure Max just snorted at my almost too unfortunate error, but I decide to hold my head high and seductively walk away from him, making my way to the bathroom so I can at least look presentable for my dear friend.

“This had better be good, Davies.” I warn my best friend as soon as I spot her seated on my sofa, looking extremely comfortable and right at home with her legs tucked underneath her.

“Hey to you, too.” She smiles sweetly and I know that she’s fully aware of what she has just interrupted. “I thought that maybe we could do something today, just you and me? A little bit of quality time. What do you say?”

“Couldn’t you have called or something to ask me that?” I huff and drag myself towards her.

“Sorry, doll. I just wanted to see you. Anyway, you can always play with lover boy later.” Her words have me wishing I was busy playing with him now. I swear if it was anyone else but Jen, I’d be taking my frustration out on them.

“Yeah, yeah. I’m sure you’re really sorry. You’re flushed complexion tells a different kind of story. Bloody take your backside into the kitchen and stick the kettle on or something, I need caffeine.”

“Did I ever tell you how much I love you, princess?” Jen grins at me, before jumping up from the sofa and wrapping me into a tight, warm embrace.

“Don’t push it, Davies.” I warn, but still smile over her shoulder. It’s bloody hard to stay mad at her for too long.

Not long after Jen has waltzed off into the kitchen, I spot Max’s sexy, lean, muscular frame snaking towards me; now fully clothed and fresh from a shower. He looks and smells devine. How I wish I could have been in that shower with him. Fucking Jen and her bloody spontaneous plans. I feel him next to me and he leans down and presses a soft, delicate kiss against my cheek. I mentally struggle to stay mad at him, and a small smile dances across my lips at his touch.

“I’ve got a few errands to run angel, but I promise I’ll make it up to you later.”

“You can bet you’re arse you will.” I promise and my stomach flutters in anticipation of the delightful things that he’ll be doing to me later and I’m rewarded with his wicked grin.

“You look so fucking beautiful, Jess. I wish I didn’t have to go.”

“Then don’t. I can always get rid of Jen, she’ll understand… Eventually.” I try to plead with him, but I can already tell that he isn’t about to back down anytime soon.

“I would if I could angel, but I’ve got some issues that need clearing up.” His face is serious for a moment, but as if remembering that I’m still watching him, he leans down and places a kiss on my forehead. Something’s bothering him, but I’m not sure what. Soon though, I’ll get to the bottom of it. I always do.

“How long will you be gone for?” I ask, missing him already and realising that I won’t win this round.

“A few hours, tops. Don’t look at me like that with those eyes. A few hours will fly by with the Tasmanian devil in there.” He nods in the direction of the kitchen, just incase I didn’t understand his meaning. All I can do is pout. “Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to stop by and see your mum tomorrow? Or, if you want we could go later?”

I’m hesitant for a moment before I reply, “I’m not sure Max.” My chest feels heavy at the mere mention of my mum and it kills me. I’d love nothing more than to go and see her, even if it was just to make sure that she’s okay and to see if she’s feeling better; but how am I supposed to do that when she won’t take my calls and constantly refuses visitors? My only comfort right now, is knowing that she’s in the best possible place, receiving the best possible care that she could ever need and it’s all thanks to this devilishly handsome man stood beside me.

Initially I’d refused any kind of offer to help out from him, because the way that I see it, she’s my mum to look after and I should be able to that on my own. I remember clearly in my mind the way he looked at me, held me close and said, “Angel, please. Please allow me to do this one thing for you. I don’t have a mother to look after, Jess. I guess I was never really given a chance, so please let me do this one thing for you.”

As much as my stubbornness and pride screamed out for me to say no, and as much as I actually wanted to say no, I just couldn’t do it. I found that I couldn’t form the words. The pure, raw sadness that swam in his eyes had me aching for him, aching for his past and the hurt that seems to still haunt him to this day.

“Okay.” I whispered, unable to say more, but for Max it seemed to be enough as he scooped me up in a tight embrace and smothered me with kisses. I just hope that one day I’ll be able to tell him just how grateful I am, for everything.

“Well, I’ll see you later then, angel.” Max whispers, bringing me back to the here and now. “Jen, make sure you look after my lady. She’s precious cargo, this one.”

In the last few months, Jess has been faced with more obstacles than she ever thought possible. Heartbreak, loss and betrayal to name just a few. Will her drama fuelled life finally settle into the happy, care free one that she deserves or is someone hiding and waiting for the perfect opportunity

to ruin it all?

Life for Max hasn’t exactly been plain sailing either. Now that he finally has someone in his life that means more to him than anything he has ever known, one thing is for certain, he’s not going to let anyone get in the way of his new found happiness, no matter what the cost.

Demons are released, pasts are exposed and their future together is only what they make of it.
“I’ve got a few errands to run Angel, but I promise that I’ll make it up to you later.”

“You bet you will, Mister. How long will you be gone for anyway?” I ask, already missing him.
“I’ll only be a few hours, tops. Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to go and see your mum? We could go tomorrow, or

even later this afternoon?”

I’m hesitant for a moment before I gain enough strength to reply. “I’m not sure, Max.” Uncertainty is evident in my tone, even though I’m trying my best to hide it. My chest feels heavy at the mere mention of my mum. I’d love nothing more than to go and see her, to wrap her in my arms and tell her that everything will be okay. I’d love to see that she’s getting better, to let her know that even after everything that I’m still here for her, but I can’t. She won’t take my calls and down right refuses any visitors.
My only comfort right now is knowing that she’s in the best place and receiving the best possible care, and it’s all thanks to this devilishly kind and handsome man stood beside me. I’d refused any kind of offer from him previously, because the way I see it, she’s my mum and I should be the one to make sure she has everything that she needs. I guess her stubborn gene runs prominently in my veins. I remember clearly in my mind the way Max looked at me, held me close and said, “Angel, please. Please allow me to do this one thing for you. Let me get her what she needs. I don’t have a mum to look after anymore, Jess. I guess I never really have. All I ask is that you let me help you. I want to help you.”
As much as my stubbornness and pride screamed out for me to say no, and as much as I wanted to say no, I couldn’t do it. I suddenly found myself unable to say no to him and the pure, raw sadness that swam in his eyes had me aching for him, aching for his past and the demons that still currently haunt him to this day.

“Okay,” I whispered. It was all I could manage, but for Max, it was enough. I just hope that one day I’ll be able to tell him just how grateful I am.

I have always had a passion for reading and writing. Wherever I am, my eBook reader is never far behind, along with a mug of coffee.

I found myself wanting to write from a young age. I have quite a few hidden stories on my computer somewhere. Maybe I will have to dig them out and play around with them at some point.

There’s something about that one person we date in our teens but never become intimate with. Why does a sexless relationship render us unable to stop carrying that person, the what if, with us into our adult life?

For Heidi Johnson, Shane Hughes is her “one that got away.” Through the years, he has stayed in the back of her mind while she became an adult, a mother, and her own person. Meanwhile, Shane has lived a life of regret that he let Heidi go for the wrong reasons: fear and a misguided sense of not wanting to hurt either of them.

When they reconnect online, the memories they’ve tried to suppress over the years return, reigniting the feelings never explored ‘back in the day.’ Will a school reunion in their home town of London, surrounded by old school friends, help the pair address the questions the years apart left unanswered? Or will they still be left with wanting more?

For almost half an hour I sat at an abandoned table by the wall, smoking my cigarettes one after the other. Apart from a few voices filtering out through the open doors, I sat in complete silence. Not one other person came out, but I could hear voices. It seemed most of the smokers were outside the front, leaving me to feel like I was the only smoker in the building.
Leaning back against the wall, I let the soft breeze play over my flushed face and was savouring a bit of peace and quiet when I looked at my watch and jumped. I hadn’t realised that it was so late—time certainly does fly when you’re having fun. Which I had been having, before the need to escape into the dark overtook me. Crushing out my cigarette in the huge metal ashtray, I stood to go back inside. I stalled when I caught sight of Shane making his way through the crowded downstairs room of the pub, walking in the direction of the beer garden. Towards me. Crumpling back down onto the seat, I lit another cigarette, my hand shaking from nerves, and . . . something else. It was okay sitting close to him in a crowded room surrounded by people, but the garden was deserted and dark. He spotted me pretty quick thanks to the glowing orange tip of my lit cigarette.
“Nice spot.” He pointed to the overhanging branches of ivy that partially hid the table. Without speaking further, he sat down next to me and took my face between his warm, strong hands. All I could see were his beautiful eyes locking on me—right before his lips crashed into mine.

Fight for you Blog tour & Review

A knockout 5 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ read!!!

“I’ve been known to have the strength of a bear, the speed of a cheetah and the aim and reflex of a sniper…”

I absolutely loved this book, right from the get go. It’s just so goddamn hot!

Haddox had me hook, line and sinker and I loved that Piper was feisty and could definitely hold her own.

If you’re looking for a gripping read, then Fight for you should be next on your TBR pile.

Charisse, once again you have blown me away with your words and I can’t wait to read what your imagination comes up with next.

Note from the author: 18+ please

To fight and win means the control is his and only his. The last man standing proves it all. Never again will he be on the losing end of the blow, the one lying broken and bloody wanting to die.

Control. Dominance. Aggression. Competition. Each represent a means to survival, a necessity to stay alive, and to suppress the demons that lie inside; the very ones clawing and attempting to break free from the bar that holds them at bay. Every day is a struggle to stay away from the darkness and evil that lurks deep within. Those are the things that it takes to keep those secrets in the realm of his mind in which they belong, forever buried so far there is no chance to break through the barrier he’s built.

Haddox Hayes has spent the last nine years getting by. He’s worked hard to forget that bloodthirsty night he left behind. The monster that exists within his veins will never be released again if he keeps a clear mind, and free from the debris he knows triggers his instinct to kill. He knows what can happen if it’s unlocked from its cage.

Fuck that. It can go to Hell along with the bastard that is the cause of his eternal torment. Eighteen years paid his sin, and at the age of twenty-seven the guilt still resides in his very core.

There is only one place he sets the monster free, but restricted: the ring. Playing by his rules has kept it on a leash for nine years and he doesn’t intend to break his rules now. The rage, the anger, the buildup, it’s all turned out in the confinement of the ropes against another traitor.

Stay in control. That’s the only thing that keeps his urge to annihilate smothered. Dominate the mind and the memories it holds. Fight aggression with fucking aggression. Be the best there is and lay his ass on the ground before the favor can be returned. Compete to win and to survive, or else the evil that is trying to consume will take over and turn him into the one thing he can’t become. If he becomes that, it has to be paid by death, the most ultimate rule.

A blackened heart isn’t allowed to partake in something as pure as love. He embraces the sweet nectar that a woman holds, sampling a little at a time. Never has he taken the same woman to bed twice. The only way to ensure he doesn’t harm another. A Dom in the ring and a Dom in the bed, his only way to cope within.

Then there’s Piper…the girl that could cause his control to evanesce. Will she be his downfall or his reparation? The entertainment is in the fight. Fight for love, fight for light, fight for her, or end in flight.

A girl with a ban against love, allowing men to bed her to numb her mind from the one that left her behind. Can the girl that won’t submit and the man that requires control find paradise in each other?

We finally get in the bar after standing in that long ass line. The music is bumping and there are bodies everywhere, grinding against each other. I let my body subtly sway to the music as I make my way to the bar in the back of the club.

The first thing I notice is the hot, shirtless bartender making drinks as I push through the never ending people surrounding it. The bar is always more crowded than any other spot in the building. I love this place. It’s crawling with hot guys and they have the best music around, not to mention the staff is oozing sex appeal, because their uniform is jeans hanging low on the hips with the elastic brief band of underwear peeking out the top, spelling out the brand they represent.

This one, in particular, is yummy. His torso is chiseled to perfection and covered in tattoos placed perfectly against his skin. He’s definitely worth a second look. I want to nibble on that lip ring in the corner of his mouth. As I study each line of muscle, I find myself wondering if Haddox’s body looks like this.

What the hell, Piper?

Hot bartender notices me ogling him and walks over with a smirk, leaning forward on his forearms against the top of the bar in front of me. “What can I get you, beautiful?” His eyes rake down my body as if he’s already undressing me with his eyes.

I smile. This one’s in the bag. “Well, how about Pineapple and Vodka, light on the pineapple,” I say in my most flirtatious voice as I sit on the stool next to me that just became free. “Start me a tab,” I ask, biting my lip.

“Anything for you, gorgeous,” he says and reaches down for a glass, preparing to mix my concoction. Moments later, he sets it before me, smiling. “What you doing later?”

“I don’t know. Why don’t you tell me,” I say seductively as I press the rim of the glass to my mouth.

“She’ll be with me,” a sultry voice interrupts in a close range behind me.

The bartender looks over my head and starts to back away from the bar. “Sorry, man, I didn’t know she was taken. No disrespect.”

Pussy. I don’t need you anyway if you can’t even ask my relationship status to the one person that knows. Me!

I feel like banging my head against the bar. I’m going to need to be intoxicated for this. I press my lips to the glass and drain the contents. Goose bumps start to form as I can feel breathing on the side of my neck. I don’t need to look to know who it is. “I thought I had until midnight,” he barks outside my ear.
I can barely breathe with him this close to me. How am I supposed to speak? I don’t think I want to at risk of sounding like a crushing schoolgirl.

Put on your game face, Piper.

I need more alcohol and fast. I choose to ignore the sexy as shit control freak next to me. Where is Alyvia when I need her? She was only supposed to have been going to the restroom, but knowing her she’s already in the middle of the dance floor, covered in sweat. The girl doesn’t even need alcohol. She usually sips beer, but comes for the music.

The Rumple Minze from earlier is calling out to me. “Rumple Minze, two shots,” I call out to the female bartender as she passes.

The girl is badass. Not even a minute and the shots are patiently waiting for me to consume them. “What can I get for you, sweetie,” she asks, but her line of vision is directly beside me. It doesn’t even seem to faze her that she is staring at the sexiest man alive. Hard-core is what that means, because even girls in the coffee shop had their eyes glued to him.

“Same as usual, Britt.” She smiles at the sound of her name.

Wait a minute. Hold up…they know each other? I come to this bar frequently and I’ve never seen him until the fashion show.

She grabs a bottle from the tub of ice, twists off the cap, and sits the bottle of Bud Light down in front of him. “My mistake, babe. How you been? Same ole broody Haddox, I’m guessing?”

“Something like that,” he replies, saying nothing more.

“And as vague as usual too. Maybe we can catch up once the bar slows down. Enjoy your night,” she winks and glances over at me.

I consume one shot, followed by the other. My nerves are going haywire. The alcohol is finally coursing through my veins, leaving me in a more relaxed state of mind, though not much.
I feel a hand wrap around my thigh, not far from my girly area. Oh my…

He spins me around on the stool until I’m facing him. He’s so close to my face that I reflexively lean against the edge of the bar. “Are you going to answer my question,” he asks, placing his free hand on my other thigh, now holding me in place.

He starts to rub my inner thighs with his thumbs and my muscles are flexing down below. How can I concentrate on anything he’s saying if he’s going to do that? He roughly pulls me to the edge so that he can align his body between my legs. It’s really a good thing that I’m not modest, because my dress is hiked up. If his body wasn’t pressed to mine, I would be flashing everyone.

In my hesitation he speaks again. “I don’t like to be toyed with, Piper, nor do I like to be kept waiting.”
He’s starting that controlling bullshit again, pulling me out of my hormonal haze. I press my palms against his chest and push, but he doesn’t budge. The alcohol is bringing out my bitchiness. “Maybe I don’t like to give myself to a man that hesitates when given the opportunity. I basically put my pussy on a platter and extended it to you, only for you to have to consider it. That’s not good enough for me. I may not be the girl to take home to mom, but I’m better than that.”

A growl sounds within his throat and he clamps down on my thighs, jerking me closer to him. His cock is bulging through his jeans, aligned between my legs. Fuck, does it feel marvelous. He grinds me against him, his body flush with mine, and his lips just outside my ear. “Does this answer your question?” His voice sounds angry. “Do you want to know how hard you make me? Huh? Do you want to know how much you push the limits of my control? Well, get ready baby, because tonight you’re all mine.”

I can’t think of anything but how much I want this. I don’t think I’ve wanted anything this much in a really long time, possibly ever. Something about him takes me out of my head, allowing me to escape into someplace else. I can’t explain it, because I don’t understand it myself. I feel like such a whore right now, but I don’t care. I’m never like this; given the fact that what happened last night did, but that’s also more reason I want to. I want to rid my body of the toxins it holds. I don’t want anything left behind of Cole tainting me.

“Okay,” I state in a breathy voice. “Where?”

“My place. Meet me outside and don’t tell Alyvia where you’re going. I’m not dealing with her shit tonight.”

He reaches down and adjusts himself, separating us. The distance makes me feel naked. I instantly hop off the stool, attempting to fix my dress. I look around, but no one is paying us any attention. They are too worried about getting laid themselves; the beauty of a bar. “Give me ten minutes?”

He nods and takes a step back before halting. “Oh and Piper?” I look at him, waiting on what he has to say. “I’ll give you what you want, but just remember darkness and light can’t coincide. You have to pick a side. Don’t say I didn’t warn you…”

He turns and walks in the direction of the exit. I’m not exactly sure what he meant by that, but I don’t care. Sometimes, I feel like I don’t fit in trying to be this girl that I am from day to day. Maybe I’m living a lie. When choosing either sinner or saint, I’m definitely not a saint, but I strive to be a decent person. Perhaps the darkness is where I belong.

I may not know many things about Haddox Hayes, but I know one thing: You can’t force someone in a place they aren’t already willing to go. Something is pulling me to him, making me want to explore whatever he has to offer. It’s just a hunch, but I get a feeling, I’d choose darkness with him every time.

“Never let anyone tell you that true love doesn’t exist, because it does. The world may be leaving romance behind, but it can still live in our hearts if we let it. To lose romance would be one of the greatest tragedies. Keep it alive. If it dies the world will be a darker place.” – Yours truly
I found books when I was going through a hard time in life. They became my means of escape when things got bad. I realized quickly how much I loved to take a backseat to someone else’s life and watch the journey unfold. That began my journey with books in November of 2012. I constantly had a book open on my Kindle app. Never in a million years would I have imagined myself as a writer, because I never thought I was creative enough. I’m living proof that things will fall into place when they’re meant to be. People will make their way into our lives when we don’t expect it, setting the path for what we are meant to do. Never give up on people. Never stop taking a chance on others. Someone took a chance on trusting me with her work when she didn’t know me from a stranger on the street and gave me the opportunity of a lifetime as our relationship progressed, which led me to editing and writing as well. This is my dream I never knew I had. As soon as I sat down and gave writing a shot, it was like the floodgates opened. Now, I am lost in a world of fiction in my head, new characters constantly screaming for their stories to be told. Continue to dream and to go for them. No one ever found happiness by sitting on the sidelines. Sometimes we have to take risks and put ourselves out there. Thank you for all of your support, and may there be many books to come. XOXO- C

L.A COTTON: Loyalty & Lies (Chastity Falls #1) ~ Review

IMG_8006.JPG            My Review: ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

Wow. What an amazing story. I really didn’t want this book to end!

I absolutely adored this book and now I’m left with a complete book hangover. L.A why would you do this to me? I was fortunate enough to read an advanced copy of Loyalty and Lies and now I am eagerly awaiting the next installment. (Not so patiently, might I add.)

The characters in this book are strong and really well developed. I couldn’t help being drawn into their world and feeling their feels. L.A has a wonderful talent with words and leaves you desperate for more.

I loved Ana from the get go, she’s stronger than she thinks and has been through more than she should have. Chastity Falls should be her escape, but will she find it?

Ladies, look out for another smoking, hot book boyfriend in the form of Jackson Pierce. He’s sexy, secretive and I need him in my life. Its not all flowers and rainbows; as deep in Chastity falls, secrets lay hidden. Loyalties will be tested and Lies will be told.

About The Author

 photo AuthorPic_zps35ac0faa.jpg

Receptionist by day, author by night, Elena Matthews is from Manchester, United Kingdom, the home of Manchester United, Media city and of course, Coronation Street. When Elena isn’t writing, she can be found with her nose in a book or watching guilty pleasures such as Gossip Girl, developing a rather unusual liking to Chuck Bass. And when she isn’t doing any of those things, you can often find her on Facebook, obsessing over Kellan Kyle, book boyfriend extraordinaire

Elena spent three years of her life at Salford University studying media production, to decide she no longer wanted to pursue a career in the media. Instead, it took her another two and half years to realise her calling. Writing. Now she lives and breathes her writing. She even had to tell her colleagues at work whenever she is found daydreaming at her desk, it’s because she is conversing with her characters.
